Anyone interested in standing to be a councillor can find out more about the role at the Councillor Fair on Saturday. The free event at New County Hall in Truro will include talks from serving councillors and Cornwall Council officers including chief executive Kate Kennally.

Cornwall’s 213 parishes are represented by a combination of town and parish councils, and one city council. In addition, Cornwall Council has 87 electoral divisions, each with its own councillor.

Ms Kennally said: “Councillors come from all walks of life but the one thing they have in common is a desire and passion to make a difference. We need people from all backgrounds who reflect the whole of Cornwall to stand for election.”
