A FILM about a celebrated composer and First World War poet is being screened in Newlyn on Remembrance Sunday.
Severn and Somme the Life of Ivor Gurney will be shown at the Filmhouse on November 10 at 6.20pm.
The theme of the film is the contrast between his life experiencing the horrors of World War One and his love of the Gloucestershire landscape, which inspired much of his poetry and music.
Returning from war where he had been shot gassed and shell shocked, he slowly declined into madness and was incarcerated in an asylum.
Today he has been recognised as one of the great war poets and has a memorial stone in Poets Corner Westminster Abbey London.
The film by Diana Taylor and Anthea Page has won awards in international film festivals and been shown in many UK literary festivals.
