A charity has launched a festive fundraiser to ensure every resident in the Newquay area can enjoy a Christmas meal.
Newquay Foodbank has started a Christmas Crowdfunder Campaign to provide vital food parcels and support to families in need over the festive season.
The funds raised will be used to purchase food items, toiletries, and other essential goods to put in the food parcels, which will include a butcher’s meat voucher, vegetables, Christmas pudding, chocolates and a selection of Christmas snacks.
Newquay Foodbank aims to raise £5,000 during the fundraiser after helping support more than 700 people at Christmas last year.
Becky Warburton from Newquay Foodbank said: “As the festive season approaches, Newquay Foodbank is calling on the community to help ensure that everyone in the area can enjoy a Christmas meal.
“To help us raise essential funds that allow us to provide vital food parcels and support to families in need this Christmas, we have launched a Christmas Crowdfunder campaign.
“Christmas is a time for joy and celebration, but for many families facing financial hardship, it can be a difficult period. Our goal at Newquay Foodbank is to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry or feels alone during the holidays.
“Last year, thanks to donations from the public and local organisations, we were able to support over 700 people at Christmas. This year, we are expecting an increase in demand, meaning that these donations are needed more than ever before.
“The Crowdfunder campaign will run for six weeks, starting at the beginning of October. The funds raised will be used to purchase food items and other essential goods that people need this Christmas.
“The funds raised will be used to purchase food items, toiletries, and other essential goods to include in Christmas food parcels, alongside our standard food parcels.
“We have several different parcel options, catering for individuals, couples and families. Each parcel will provide enough food to last for several days, ensuring that everyone has a nourishing and festive meal.
“To ensure that no one goes hungry this Christmas, we’re looking to raise £5,000 through our Christmas Crowdfunder campaign.
“To break things down, a food parcel costs £27 for one person, £40 for two people and £60 for a family of four.
“Each food parcel contains a butcher’s meat voucher, vegetables, Christmas pudding, chocolates and a selection of Christmas snacks.
“We are grateful for the generosity and support of our community. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a significant difference in the lives of those who rely on our services.”

Additionally, the foodbank is accepting donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries at drop-off locations throughout the community.
