THE Ladder, an arts and culture hub in Redruth, are looking for local young people to partake in a project to explore people’s sense of place in Cornwall and think about what heritage means to you.

This October half-term free workshops will be taking place for 11-18 year olds living in Cornwall, as well as a visit to Halliggye Fogou and the chance to create a ceramic mosaic in Redruth.

The group will visit the Fogou, on the Trelowarren Estate in Helston, to get creative and deep dive into the mystical heritage site, it’s natural landscape and own feelings of place. During the visit, participants will get their own notebooks to sketch, write, and collect thoughts.

They will then gather back in Redruth to make a ceramic mosaic of Heritage with a professional ceramicist which will be installed at The Ladder permanently.

Workshop leader and playwright Sarah Connors will guide attendees through creative activities to get participants thinking about what heritage means to those taking part. There is no need to be ‘good’ at art to join, these are friendly and relaxed workshops and the organisers are happy to hear from everyone.

After the trip, the group will team up with a professional artist Sarah Sullivan from Red Pottery to create a mosaic artwork that will be displayed at The Ladder. This piece will blend traditional Cornish history with your personal stories, showcasing the rich tapestry of our community.

The two part workshops takes place at:
