Cornwall’s biggest and best Christmas festival is back!

Padstow Christmas Festival, which has been entirely run by volunteers and sponsored by Sharp’s Brewery since 2011, will once again feature a line-up of the country’s best culinary talent alongside a vast Christmas market showcasing the best of Cornish food and drink.

The festival will run from Thursday, December 1 to Sunday, December 4 and will feature a range of different workshops, events, experiences and appearances from celebrity chefs.

The Friday evening is all about the local community. A Lantern Parade, featuring local schoolchildren showcasing their hand-made creations, will kick off the celebrations that evening from 6pm, before the much-anticipated firework display.

The Saturday and Sunday will feature appearances from Padstow Christmas regulars such as Rick Stein, Paul Ainsworth and Nathan Outlaw among a multitude of other food and drink related activities hosted by various icons of the culinary world and the Sharp’s Brewery team.

The lineup includes a host of Sharp’s Brewery-related activities as well as sessions from award-winning chefs José Pizarro, Clodagh McKenna, Mitch Tonks, Angela Hartnett and many more.

There will be a range of cookery demonstrations alongside the plethora of Cornish products at the artisan Christmas market with a bandstand featuring live music and Christmas carols.

Cookery demonstrations will run across two stages: The Sharp’s Chefs’ Theatre and The Festival Kitchen.

Glynn Purnell, chef and TV personality, will be appearing and demonstrating on Saturday afternoon alongside Michael Caines MBE.

The Festival Kitchen will host an array of the best emerging local culinary College, St Enodoc Hotel, The Atlantic and many more will be demonstrating throughout the weekend.

On the Saturday Joe Rozier from The Mariners and Henk De Villiers from the Halfway House will combine with Sharp’s Brewery’s Beer Sommelier Ed Hughes to create all sorts of beer and food concoctions from the best of local Cornish produce.

Having supported the festival since its inception, in 2022 Sharp’s will be on the ground delivering a host of award-winning beers and exciting activities such as the bookable-in-advance Silent Bistro, all on the town’s picturesque harbour.

Sharp’s will also be bringing plenty of products and experiences right across the festival period.

A new addition to Padstow Christmas Festival this year is the Sharp’s sampling truck – a Land Rover which has been lovingly renovated to include beer taps. Located outside the Sharp’s Chefs’ Theatre, Sharp’s will be handing out samples of beer to thirsty passers-by (over the age of 18).

Ed Hughes, Sharp’s Beer Sommelier, is the co-host of this year’s Sharp’s Chef’s Theatre and he says: “It’s not an overstatement to say that the Padstow Christmas Festival is the highlight of our busy events calendar and the whole of the Sharp’s team is looking forward to it with great excitement.

“Being based across the Camel Estuary in Rock, the Christmas Festival is so important to us in celebrating the beautiful area in which we live and work.”
