The Acorn Theatre in Penzance will be celebrating International Women’s Day by staging yet another sensational charity cabaret, number fourteen for anyone who’s counting.
The theme for 2025 is #Accelerate Action to speed up gender equality, and this year’s event is on the day itself, Saturday March 8. The stars are indeed aligned, as we have a star-studded line-up to amaze, astound, astonish and entertain you.
Be blown away by the fiery tour-de-force that is Tanek, taking the Cornish music scene by storm. Gasp at the gravity-defying wonder of aerialists from Cirk Hes. Laugh until you cry with stand-up comedienne Hayley Ashton, a seasoned pro on the Cornish comedy circuit.
Be moved by the beautiful dancing of Hannah Jacobs. Taken on a journey by wordsmith extraordinaire Nattie Flannery. Enjoy the unpredictable antics of the St Just Rare Birds Society, and so much more.
Music, song, dance, circus, spoken word, drama, comedy, silly sketches, there’s something for everyone and everyone is welcome.
Most importantly it’s a fundraiser, where we get to raise much needed money for global and local Cornish charities supporting vulnerable women and girls.
People can bid on the Facebook Page DIY Auction online in the fortnight beforehand, as well as bid in person on the night for some fantastic prizes. Plus there’s the Tombola, so bring cash. Lots of cash.
All the performers and helpers generously donate their talents and time for free, so all the money raised goes directly to the charities. Bring your old bras as well as we donate those to charity too.
Doors open at 6.30pm for curtain up at 7.30pm.
