Brooklyn bluesman Brian Kramer will be performing at The Acorn on Friday, August 30 with support from Eliza Claire and Gem Caley.

When Brian was barely out of his teens he was hanging out with legendary blues men, picking up tips and advice from Buddy Guy and Junior Wells when they would visit his hometown in New York. Junior took a particular liking to Brian and paid careful attention in showing him the right moves and how to play from the heart. Junior would join Brian on his first record, Win or Lose.

Former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor was also part of these sessions, which were a gathering of the finest, most respected sidemen in the United States. Throughout the 90’s Brian toured and continued to be a fixture within the New York club scene, performing frequently with the great Blues man Larry Johnson until re-locating overseas.

He has since travelled the globe, recording and performing with world-class artists such as Eric Bibb, Taj Mahal, Alvin Youngblood Hart to name just a few. His past releases have received great acclaim and many have coined the new phrase “uplifting-blues” when referring to Brian’s recordings.

Performing with Brian is Eliza, a songwriting multi-instrument musician. Her music has been described as therapeutic and soulful. She thoughtfully weaves music and poetry together to create beautiful melodies. Taking inspiration from folk, love and the beauty of nature, she wraps the listener up in her warm embrace of sound and takes them on a journey.

Guitarist and songwriter Gem will also be providing support. Gem has played a variety of genres, from post-metal to pop, but when left to her own devices, she always comes back to the blues. Her songs are a mixture of reimagined classics and heartfelt originals emphasising storytelling and personal reflection.
