EMERGENCY services were scrambled following concerns for the welfare of an “intoxicated” man on the edge of cliffs near Holywell Bay.

Newquay and St Agnes Coastguard Rescue Teams were tasked to assist Devon and Cornwall Police with an incident just south of Holywell Bay on Saturday, January 11, at about 5pm.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called by the Coastguard following a concern for welfare for an intoxicated man on the edge of cliffs south of Holywell Bay.

“Officers attended and found the man safe and well. The Coastguard was made aware.”

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team added: “Both teams were stood down once the incident was resolved.”
