EMERGENCY services managed to talk a man away from a cliff edge at Holywell Bay on Saturday afternoon, October 12.

Police, ambulance, Newquay and Padstow Coastguard search and rescue teams and Newquay’s lifeboats attended the incident at Ligger Point at 4.45pm.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called to the Holywell Bay area following reports of a concern for welfare for a man seen on the edge of a cliff.

“Emergency services attended, and the man was safely taken away from the cliff edge.

“He was transported from the scene by officers and left in the hands of mental health professionals.”

A Coastguard spokesperson added: “All assets were stood down once the incident was successfully resolved.”
