EMERGENCY services launched a search after a man went missing from Newquay.

Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to assist Devon and Cornwall Police to look for the man in the Watergate Bay area on Wednesday, February 5, shortly after 5pm.

The Coastguard team was stood down when the man was discovered safe in the Watergate Bay area.

A spokesperson said: “We were tasked to assist Devon and Cornwall Police with an incident at Watergate Bay.

“The team were stood down en route as the incident had been resolved.”

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “The incident was in relation to a man reported missing from Newquay.

“He was safely located in the Watergate Bay area.”
