A search operation was launched in Newquay on Thursday night following concerns for the welfare of a teenager from the area.

Newquay Coastguard rescue team, South West Ambulance Service and Devon & Cornwall Police were tasked to East Pentire Headland at 7pm.

The coastguard team located the casualty at 8pm after a brief search and passed them over to other agencies.

A [olice spokesman said: “Police were called following concerns for the welfare of a teenager from the Newquay area. 

“The missing person was located safely just after 8pm and was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital to allow access to the necessary support.”
