TWO teams from The Great Cornish Egg & Spoon Race surpassed the minimum distance for a Guinness World Record title on Friday.
In a bid to raise £1-million for Hospitality Action and Cornwall Air Ambulance, and smash the Guinness World Record, two teams from St Ewe Free Range Eggs raced along the Cornish coast to the Land’s End finish line.
The Great Eggsplorers and Team Eggstreme, carried a fresh, uncooked, and untreated commercially available hen’s egg upon a hand-crafted wooden spoon courtesy of Dominic Pearce, ‘The Cornish Woodsmith’ along the route with steady hands.
The Great Eggsplorers were also joined by the teams from MIX Newquay and Talent27 for the 8th leg of their walk for support.
The previous record was 104.3 miles (168km), and the team’s 300-mile challenge was completed on Friday, July 7 at Land’s End.
The Guinness World Record team will award the title at Rock Oyster Festival on July 30, subject to a review of the evidence.
