The official D-Day 80th anniversary proclamation was read in Penzance, Newlyn and Mousehole this morning by the Penzance Town Crier, while the mayor of Penzance attended a short service and ceremony in both Penzance and Mousehole.
The Penzance and Heamoor Royal British Legion Branches joined representatives from Penzance Community Fire Station, local veterans and members of the public at the town’s war memorial at Battery Rocks to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Mousehole Royal British Legion coordinated a ceremony at the war memorial in Mousehole Harbour. A formal ceremony including the laying of wreaths will be taking place at Mousehole War Memorial on Sunday, June 8 at 11.30am.
