PEOPLE flocked to Newquay Harbour to attend a shanty festival on Saturday (May 18).
Hundreds of residents and visitors attended NQY Shanty Fest ‘24, which was organised by The Boathouse and local shanty group The Clams.
There were performances throughout the day by The Clams, The C-Birds, Shantillies, Fiddle Me Timbers, Acapella Sound, North Coast Choir, Oll an Gwella and Newquay Junior Academy Choir.
Amie Bradshaw, the general manager at The Boathouse, said: “We couldn't have wished for a better reaction to our first ever Shanty Festival, at one point it felt like the whole of Newquay was in the harbour and the atmosphere was incredible.
“I’d like to say thank you to everyone who came down and supported the day, to all the performers who were simply amazing and to the small team of people who helped make it all possible.
“Lastly a huge thank you to Aimee from The Clams, the festival was very much a joint venture between us and the day wouldn't have been what it was without her. The Boathouse will be donating to the Fishermen’s Mission, thank you all for supporting this event which we can pass forward to such a great cause.”
