A Crantock choir has resonated so much since forming at the end of last year it is expanding.
The North Coast Choir is establishing a new branch in St Agnes following the positive response from the public.
The choir has made regular live performances, released two original singles, had radio plays, raised money for charities and was featured on BBC Spotlight.
The North Coast Choir is led by husband and wife team Luke and Elle Spurrell. The plan is to merge both choirs for larger performances.
Elle said: “The choir has made a huge splash on the community in a very short space of time.
“Now, thanks to the wonderful response from the public, we are excited to be expanding.
“The ethos of the North Coast Choir is that singing and socialising should be as fun and uplifting as possible. For that reason there are no auditions and everybody is welcome regardless of singing experience and ability.
“There are no shanties or traditional choral numbers.
“The North Coast Choir sings only contemporary and uplifting pop and rock songs to get toes tapping and to lift the spirits of all members.”
Luke added: “Elle and I started the North Coast Choir for many reasons, but a huge drive for us was the desire to do something that would genuinely enrich our community, and ultimately make a positive impact on the people around us.
“As professional musicians ourselves, we have become so aware of the positive affects that singing can have, especially when done in a group setting.
“In a time when so much of our experience of the world is realised through digital means, such as social media, what a wonderful thing to be able to meet up once a week, bring a drink, make new friends from your community and sing as a collective.
“We are such a friendly and welcoming choir and I would urge anyone who wants to be part of something new, fun and exciting to give it go. Even if that means stepping out of your comfort zone.”
Elle was inspired to start the North Coast Choir after losing her best friend to cancer at the age of 42. The choir will be taking a break at the end of July for the summer holidays.
The new term starts at Crantock Village Hall on Monday, September 9, between 7.15pm and 8.45pm and at Driftwood Spars in St Agnes on Tuesday, September 10, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Luke said: “If you’d like to come along, your first trial session is free, so there is no pressure to join. All you need to do is rock up, sing and have fun.”
