A property used as a drugs den in Newquay, which has been making vulnerable neighbours’ lives a misery, has been closed down.

The property in Hilgrove Road has been made the subject of a three-month closure order by Bodmin Magistrates Court following reports of drug and anti-social behaviour issues.

Bodmin Magistrates were satisfied that a person has engaged or is likely to engage in disorderly, offensive or criminal behaviour on the premises, that the use of the premises has resulted in or is likely to result in serious nuisance to members of the public and that there has been, or is likely to be, disorder near the premises associated with the uses.

The court found the order is necessary to prevent the behaviour from continuing.

The closure order includes the external garden areas.

Those who access the property in breach of the terms of the closure order will be committing a criminal offence.

A spokesman for Newquay Police said: “We hope this will curtail the crime and disorder and enable vulnerable neighbours to enjoy the peace and safety of their own homes.”
