THREATENED TO BURN HOUSE DOWN
SHAUN HENDERSON, 39, of Dunmere Road, Bodmin has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with threatening to burn a woman’s house down in Bodmin on 17 July and slash another woman’s car tyres on 21 July. His case is listed for 25 April.
ASSAULT
MICHAEL OWEN, 24, of Bank Street, Newquay pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault on a man in Newquay last April. He will be sentenced on 24 April.
JAMES BENDELL, 38, of Minorca Lane, Bugle has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with strangling a woman at Bugle in December 2023 and damaging her necklace. His case is listed for 25 April.
IGOR STOJKA, 40, of Clifden Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to assaulting two police officers and two men on Clifden Road on 5 July. He was made subject to a community order and must do 200 hours unpaid work, pay £100 compensation to one of his victims and £200 to the second man, £200 compensation to one of the police officers and £150 to the other officer.
REBECCA BOOTH, 35, of Melbourne Road, Liskeard pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm in Cardinham Woods in May 2023. She was made subject to a community order, ordered to pay £250 compensation, a £200 fine and £135 costs.
KIRAN WARNER, 23, of Belmont Park, Liskeard pleaded guilty to assaulting two men in Newquay on 3 November. He was made subject to a community order to have mental health treatment and must do 120 hours unpaid work, pay one victim £250 compensation, the other victim £200 compensation, £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
PETER WOOTTON, 54, of Fairfield, St Germans had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to turn up to court to be sentenced for assaulting a police officer in St Germans on 18 December.
AARON CROWHURST, 32, of Sunnyside Meadow, Camelford has been remanded in custody after he failed to turn up to court to answer three charges of assaulting a man and a woman and one of strangling a woman in Bodmin. He has been sent to Truro Crown Court and will appear on 25 July.
SEX OFFENCES
CHRISTOPHER WHITE, 42, of Edgcumbe Avenue, Newquay has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with disclosing private sexual photographs and films without consent with intent to cause distress last October and of sexually assaulting a woman in October 2023. His case is listed for 25 April.
KEVIN ROWE, 36, of Trewoon pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual offences prevention order made by Truro Crown Court in 2011 by residing at a property where there were female children under the age of 16 living. He was remanded in custody and the case adjourned.
ALAN MUGFORD, 85, of Clearwater View, St Austell has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with gross indecency with a girl under the age of 14 and indecently assaulting her between January 1994 and March 1995. His case is listed for 25 April.
WILLIAM SCHOFIELD, 32, of Newport, Callington has been sent to Truro Crown Court charged with raping a 13-year-old girl and sexually assaulting a ten-year-old girl in Launceston. His case is listed for 25 April.
ADAM SMITH, 45, of East Fairholme Road, Bude pleaded guilty to five charges of attempting to engage in sexual communication with five girls in 2022. He expressed his desire to kiss and cuddle, to meet up and make love and asked for indecent images. He was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and was ordered to have mental health treatment for 12 months. He was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order restricting his contact with girls under the age of 16 and his internet use. He must pay a £187 victim surcharge and £135 costs.
HARASSMENT
SHAY ILES, 19, of Fore Street, Pool pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order in Bodmin on 2 March and 25 February when he made contact with a woman he was banned from contacting by an order made in July. He was given a 24-week custodial sentence because of his failure to express willingness to comply with a proposed requirement for a community order and his flagrant disregard for court orders. Sentence was suspended for 12 months.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
COLIN WHEELER, 29, of Cosgarne, Truro Road, St Austell was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 22 March not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in St Columb.
KANE MITCHELL, 27, was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 22 March not to contact or threaten a woman or go to Par and St Blazey.
NATHAN NURTON, 36, of NFA, was made subject to a 28-day domestic violence protection notice on 21 March not to contact or threaten a woman or go to an address in Bude.
BURGLARY
TAMIKA STEWART, 35, of The Cardinals Hatt, Hatt pleaded guilty to, jointly with others, having entered as a trespasser Fone Case in King Street, Truro stealing mobile phones, accessories and vapes. She will be sentenced on 6 May.
DOG BAN
ROSS STONE, 41, of Cooperage Farm, Trewoon who was convicted on 17 December, in his absence, of five offences of failing to comply with a community protection notice by permitting his dog to roam from outside of his premises on land accessible to the public unattended and not under control was last week banned from keeping dogs. He has now been made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order which will last for ten years from 25 March. The order bans him from owning, keeping and participating in the keeping of dogs. He must transfer ownership and control of the dogs currently in his possession to a close family member within 21 days and provide evidence he has done this within seven days. If he does not do this Cornwall Council will endeavour to rehome them, or in the unlikely case that a dog cannot be rehomed, it will be dealt with appropriately.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
HARRISON BIGNELL, 20, of Middle Gillies Conce, Bugle pleaded guilty to damaging windows at Middle Gillies Conce on 30 August. He was fined £60 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, a £24 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
ROSS PALMER, 47, of Cosgarne, Truro Road, St Austell pleaded guilty to causing £450 worth of damage to a Nissan car in St Austell last April. He was ordered to pay £450 compensation.
GERSON LOURENCO, 27, of Callington pleaded guilty to damaging the window of a home and causing £4000 worth of damage to a van and to dangerous driving in a BMW in St Austell on 22 July 2022. He was made subject to a community order and banned from driving for 12 months when he will have to pass an extended driving test. He also has to pay £446.39 compensation, £85 costs and £114 victim surcharge.
DRIVE WHILST DISQUALIFIED
ELVIS MARIN, 27, of Wheal Rose, Bilberry pleaded guilty to driving in Bodmin last October whilst disqualified. He will be sentenced on 2 May.
TERRY MULLINS, 46, of Robartes Gardens, St Austell had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to turn up to court to face charges of driving whilst disqualified in St Austell last October and failing to provide a specimen for analysis whilst being investigated for an offence. He was found guilty of the charges in his absence.
DRUG/DRINK DRIVE
RAMONE GRIFFITHS, 36, of My Lords Road, Fraddon pleaded guilty to driving in Newquay last November with 3.1 micrograms of cannabis in 100 millilitres of blood exceeding the limit of two and driving without a licence or insurance. He was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
FRANCOIS GARBADE, 48, of Hendra Garth, Tresmeer pleaded not guilty to driving through Coads Green last July with 32 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood exceeding the limit of ten and 335 micrograms of BZE per litre of blood exceeding the limit of 50. The case was adjourned until 10 April.
FEDERICO UVA,34, of Windmill House, Heyl View, Fowey pleaded not guilty to failing to provide police with a specimen of urine when suspected of a driving offence last October. His case was adjourned until 1 August.
ALEXANDER BRYANT, 36, of Lanxon Crescent, Lanivery pleaded guilty to failing to provide police with a specimen of blood for analysis at Treliske Hospital on 22 February when suspected of committing a traffic offence. He was given an interim driving ban and will be sentenced on 23 May.
CRAIG PARNELL, 37, of Merrymeet pleaded guilty to driving a Land Rover at the Esso service station on Callington Road, Saltash on 2 March with 64 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeding the limit of 35. He was banned from driving for 40 months, which will be reduced by 40 weeks if he completes a course, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £48 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
KENNETH MACLEAY, 56, of Sandy Close, St Keyne pleaded guilty to driving between Trussel Bridge and Valley View on the B3254 on 4 October with 81 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood exceeding the limit of 80. He was banned from driving for 12 months, which will be reduced by three months if he completes a course, fined £650 and ordered to pay a £260 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
MICHAEL HOUGHTON, 39, of Luxulyan pleaded guilty to driving in St Austell last December with 12 micrograms of cocaine per litre of blood exceeding the limit of ten and 2.1 micrograms of cannabis exceeding the limit of two. He was made subject to a community order to have drug rehabilitation and ordered to do 100 hours unpaid work, banned from driving for 28 months and ordered to pay a £114 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
BREACHED FIRE REGULATIONS
SIMON FLOYD, 57, of The Tree Inn, Stratton pleaded guilty to failing to comply with fire safety regulations putting people at risk of death or serious injury between May and September 2023. The court heard the premises were not appropriately equipped with fire detectors and alarms and there was inadequate means of escape. He was fined £8000 and ordered to pay a £2000 victim surcharge and £2755.60 costs – a court bill of £12,755.60.
FOOD HYGIENE BREACHES
DAVID HEWITT, 52, of Rosedown, St Wenn, Bodmin who had pleaded guilty to four charges under EU Hygiene regulations concerning the production of eggs in dirty conditions has been fined £5672 and ordered to pay a £2000 victim surcharge and £7226.90 costs totalling £14,898.90.
CLOSURE ORDER
SALTASH SMOKE POINT at 50 Fore Street, Saltash has been made subject to a three-month closure order under the Anti-social Behaviour Act.

ASSAULT
JAKE MCDOUGALL, 35, of Gwel An Nans, Probus pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to strangling a woman in Newquay on 14 February. He was remanded in custody and his trial fixed for 21 July.
ETHAN EDWARDS, 20, of Trevithick Road, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent to a woman at the White Hart Hotel in St Austell on1 November, of assaulting a man and damaging a police vehicle. He was committed to a young offenders’ institute for four years and six months and made subject to a restraining order not to contact his female victim until March 2035.
TRACEY FALVEY, 57, of Polgrean Place, St Blazey pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman and a police officer at Polgrean Place on Christmas Day. Her trial has been fixed for 11 November.
MARTIN TREBILOCK, 47, of Hodge Close, Saltash changed a not guilty plea to guilty when he appeared at Truro Crown Court charged with assaulting a paramedic at Hodge Close last June. He will be sentenced on 29 April.
KEANU WEBB, 20, of Sycamore Road, Torpoint pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a man at Torpoint in November 2023 occasioning him actual bodily harm. The trial was fixed for 14 October.
JOHN CHAPMAN, 41, of Church View, North Petherwin pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting a woman occasioning her actual bodily harm and strangling her on 23 February and to engaging in coercive behaviour. He was remanded in custody and the case adjourned until 30 July.
SEX OFFENCE
MARK MCILWAINE, 48, of Elizabeth Court, Bugle pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a woman at Bodmin in 2022 and causing her to engage in a non-penetrative sexual activity. He will stand trial at Truro Crown Court on 25 February.
DRUG DEALER
MYLES HARRISON, 37, of Beech Road, St Austell pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to supplying cocaine and cannabis in St Austell between 2022 and 2023 but not guilty to supplying LSD. He pleaded not guilty to possessing a knife with a locking blade on Polgover Way, Par in April 2023. His case was adjourned until 2 May.
JADE MURPHY, 30, of Polgover Way, Par pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to supplying cocaine and cannabis in St Austell between 2022 and 2023 but not guilty to supplying LSD. Her case was adjourned until 2 May.
GORDON ASTBURY, 57, of Trelawny Avenue, St Ives pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to supplying heroin in Launceston in March 2020 and possessing cocaine with intent to supply. He will be sentenced on 25 April.
KNIFE CRIME
RICKY SUTTON, 35, of Doubletrees, St Blazey has appeared at Truro Crown Court charged with possessing a knife on Penarwyn Road, St Blazey on 7 March – he has pleaded not guilty. He pleaded guilty to damaging a phone at Camborne police station on 7 March. His case was adjourned until 8 April.
HARASSMENT
MAX TILLER, 37, of Moorland Road, St Austell changed his pleas to guilty at Truro Crown Court on charges of breaching a restraining order by going to the home of a woman in Lanner in December 2023 and, between November 2023 and April 2024, contacting her by being in her company, telephoning her and leaving messages, emailing her and posting on Facebook and the Buy and Sell St Austell area Facebook page which he was prohibited from doing. He was given a two-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and was ordered to do 250 hours unpaid work and pay a £154 victim surcharge.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
DYLAN CATHRAE, 19, of Swallow Close, Bude pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to damaging the door of a property at Poughhill on 28 December. The prosecution offered no evidence on a charge of sending a communication which threatened serious harm. Cathrae was remanded in custody to await trial on a number of other charges he has denied including rape, assault and intimidation.
DRINK DRIVE
DANIEL ROWLING, 43, of Well Lane, Liskeard pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to failing to provide a specimen of urine at Newquay police station on 4 January whilst under investigation for an offence and failing to surrender to bail at Newquay police station on 31 January. He was given a one-month custodial sentence and banned from driving for 12 months.
