A parish council in Cornwall is launching a short animation to help introduce householders to the benefits of taking a planned and systematic approach to improve the energy-efficiency of their homes.

The video is part of Stoke Climsland Parish Council’s commitment to meet a net zero target by 2030.

The council set up its carbon zero homes project to find practical solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change and reduce carbon emissions.

The project is designed to support residents to:

•Reduce the impact of high energy bills

•Live in healthier homes

•Work together to reduce our impact on our planet.

An analysis of homes in the parish shows that 80 per cent have an EPC rating of ‘D’ or less.

The animation, directed and animated by Ruby Ingleheart and written by Jaimie Lock, offers six key considerations and suggestions for practical improvement measures:

•Understanding the underlying condition of a house

•Insulation

 •Ventilation

• Heating a home

• Cooling a home

•The use of technologies.

The animation has been developed in collaboration with Tamar Energy Community, Two Counties Property Surveyors, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Tamar Valley Health.

It will be available to watch online at www.stokeclimslandparish council.org/carbon-zero-homes-project/
