FROM Cornish to Cuban, Cornwall's fourth Celebration of Culture festival will highlight top talent, food and fun from international backgrounds.
The free event takes place on Lemon Quay and in the Hall for Cornwall this Saturday from 11am to 6pm.
The event will open with the 200-strong Rock Choir and conclude with traditional Cornish trio Jackson's Claret.
International music will include a set by Plymouth-based TV and radio stars Real Steel - one of the world's leading steel bands and Notting Hill Carnival favourites; ska and reggae from Skata-Likes, Cuban and Latin rhythms from Kewbanda and Venezuelan-Cornish fusion vibes from Catatumbo.
Arrive hungry and treat yourself to classic Caribbean, African, French or Cornish barbecue; there is an adult-only bar area, as well as the Hall for Cornwall cafe, where children can enjoy a quieter moment with free storytime sessions led by local literary artists.
Donations from Cornwall Community Foundation, Boardmasters Festival, local councils and Truro BID, as well as partnership support from Hall for Cornwall and Cornwall Council, have enabled event organisers Black Voices Cornwall (BVC) to keep many activities free of charge, including arts and crafts and face-painting for all throughout the day.
BVC arts and culture lead Abi Hutchinson said: “Cornwall has a strong cultural history, and we are proud to showcase heritages both native and more recent in our wonderful city.
“We want to bring the whole community together to celebrate what makes us different and what we have in common.”
