Cornwall has woken to frost and ice again, with the Met Office continuing to warn of icy patches on untreated roads and more schools announcing closures or delays to opening.

Cornwall Council said its gritters have been out salting about 1,420km of Cornwall's routes.

Teams also topped up grit bins in towns and villages yesterday, the council said.

Slightly warmer temperatures are forecast during the day today but some light snow is predicted for parts of Cornwall overnight into Thursday, allied to more freezing temperatures. Warmer weather and rain are forecast for the weekend.
