A STUDENT from Cornwall College has been announced as the UK winner in the national Global Travel and Tourism Partnership (GTTP) photography competition after capturing a stunning image of East Pool Mine.

Jamie Hurst, who has recently qualified on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism course from Cornwall College Camborne, has been commended on her outstanding photograph of the iconic National Trust Cornish Heritage site, and her work has been featured on the organisation’s website.

Returning to education in her mid-30s, Jamie thrived at Cornwall College and has now progressed to study International Tourism Management at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Reflecting on her journey, Jamie said: “I’m grateful for the support and guidance I received at Cornwall College. They helped me build my confidence and discover my passion for photography.”

“Cornwall College has ignited my passion for photography and which allowed me to participate in the Global Travel and Tourism Partnership, where I am proud to say that I have won the UK segment. I aim to progress onto a Master’s Degree, ultimately, my goal is to start my own business specialising in special interest tourism agency with a focus on historical interests,” she continued.

Study programme manager for hospitality, Suzette Sadler, added: “We are delighted to celebrate Jamie’s success in this international competition. Being part of the GTTP is invaluable to our students as it connects them with peers and industry leaders worldwide.”
