Cornish singing sensation Bailey Tomkinson has praised Truro College for helping her become a chart-topper.

The 23-year-old recently hit the headlines after beating world-wide mega-stars Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus to the number one spot in the iTunes video chart with her latest single Astronaut.

That led the St Ives singing to be hailed as ‘Britain’s Taylor Swift’.

Bailey always wanted a career in music and studied for a level 3 extended diploma in music at Truro College.

She has admitted that has helped her in her music career.

“The foundation of knowledge in music I learnt at college really helped me on my journey to do what I love as a job,” she said.

“It was a couple of the best years of my life. I really, really loved going to Truro College.

“I learnt how to produce tracks, the theory behind music and even the politics. I still contact the lecturers now for advice.”

After the success of her single Astronaut she has had record companies wanting to sign her.

“I’ve had a few labels reach out on the back of the news but I’m trying to keep my feet on the ground. It is important I find the right fit,” she said.

“I’ve got some really exciting plans for the year and lots of new material I can’t wait to release.

“I’m hoping to go on tour at the end of the year.

“My focus now is releasing some awesome music and focusing on getting the best possible team around me.

“There’s lots of new music in the pipeline that I can’t wait to share with everyone."
