A SCHOOL in Cornwall has some of the happiest teachers in the country, according to a new survey.
The poll found that Poltair School in St Austell is streets ahead of the average school when it comes to staff satisfaction.
The secondary school has been named as one of the top 10 schools in England for teacher satisfaction following an Edurio survey.
The data from the poll showed that Poltair staff were overwhelmingly positive about their working life, with 97 per cent saying they would recommend the school as a good place to have a job – more than a quarter higher than the national average.
The survey highlights Poltair as a school where staff feel valued and supported.
Edurio, which has given a staff choice award to Poltair, surveys more than 70,000 school staff every year.
Edurio chief executive Ernest Jenavs praised the schools receiving the award, saying: “The schools recognised with this award are the top nationally, based on staff recommending them as great places to work.
“The exceptional responses from staff demonstrate a deep sense of pride in being part of these schools. Your commitment to fostering a strong sense of community is inspiring and you should be incredibly proud.”
Poltair School is part of the Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT).
The trust says staff happiness is a top priority, with a focus on professional development, wellbeing and a collaborative culture.
A trust spokesperson said: “This award reinforces the school’s dedication to creating a strong school community, ultimately benefiting the pupils and the wider community.”
A school spokesperson said: “This recognition is a testament to the dedication and teamwork of our staff who work tirelessly to provide the best possible education and support for our pupils. We are incredibly proud to be acknowledged as one of the top schools in the country for staff satisfaction.”
