Two gastropubs in Cornwall have been named among the best 100 gastropubs in the UK in the Estrella Damm 2023 list.

The Mariners in Rock came just outside the top 10 in 11th place, whilst the St Kew Inn, near Bodmin, was in 58th.

The Estrella Damm Gastropub Awards are named each year by an academy of several hundred judges spread throughout the UK. The academy is made up of food industry experts, chefs, operators, food writers and journalists.

The Mariners is one of the venues owned by Paul Ainsworth around Cornwall and the website says: "The menus, designed by Paul and Joe Rozier, focus on British classics while championing the best of local produce."

They work closely with local suppliers as part of this, and offer a wide range of dishes, from "a family feast" to light bites to Sunday roasts.

The St Kew Inn offers four internal dining areas, gardens to enjoy in the summer months and a log fire for the winter.

The website states: "The St Kew Inn takes great pride in the quality and presentation of the food it offers. Where possible all ingredients are sourced locally and we delight in being able to offer the freshest of seasonal produce which are delivered to our door on a daily basis."
