A Cornish folk singer-songwriter has released a new album.
Will Keating’s A Remembered Walk is a collection of songs that showcase his signature blend of traditional Cornish folk music with contemporary influences, delivering an insight into Cornwall’s rich history and maritime past. Falmouth-based Will says he has “poured heart and soul into every track of this album.” A Remembered Walk features a mix of original songs, covers of local musicians’ songs and time-honoured Cornish folk songs, each telling a story of the land, sea, and people of Cornwall with themes of love, loss, and the timeless beauty of the Cornish landscape. "I wanted this album to be a celebration of Cornish culture and reflect the love and passion I have for Cornwall and its past,” says Keating. "Every song is a piece of my journey as a professional musician and a tribute to the incredible stories and scenery that make Cornwall so special." Highlights of the album, which also features The Oggymen and Phil Beer, include the hauntingly intense Granite - the story of the Royal Navy disaster off the coast of the Isles of Scilly in 1707 - the upbeat celebratory The Ladder, a tribute to the life of Cornish philanthropist John Passmore Edwards and Cornwall My Home, the modern-day anthem written by his friend Harry Glasson who will be his guest for An Audience With . . . at St Ives Arts Club on Sunday, September 15, the second night of this year’s St Ives September Festival. The title track A Remembered Walk, a song of hope written during the first Covid lockdown, features Will’s four daughters on backing vocals. A Remembered Walk will be streaming on all major streaming platforms with CDs available from Wills website willkeatingcornwall.com
