Cornwall’s new English middleweight title winner Brad Pauls has made a return to Truro and Penwith College to help inspire the next generation of students.
Pauls was a sports student at the college before going on to be a professional boxer.
Last month he become the first Cornishman in a 100 years to win the English middleweight crown.
He told current students: “It’s vital in sport to know how to recover, fuel yourself and to really understand what you are doing and why you are doing it.
“The knowledge I gained at college on healthy training was massively important.”
Brad, known as the Newquay Bomb’ wanted to return to college to show you can achieve your dream career in sport.
He was in the same class at college as England rugby stars Jack Nowell and Luke Cowan-Dickie.
“My basic understanding of healthy training, nutrition and being around other young elite athletes and good staff, who supported my boxing, has really helped me throughout my career,” he added.
Pauls now has his sights on trying to bring the British boxing title back to Cornwall.
