EMERGENCY services recovered a man from the water at the boating lake in Newquay on Sunday morning.

Members of Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team pulled the man out at about at 7am.

He was handed over to the ambulance service and take to hospital for further treatment.

The Coastguard, Newquay RNLI Lifeboats and the police had initially been called to Tolcarne Beach and were redirected to the boating lake.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 6.50am on Sunday 9 March following a report of a man in the water at Trenance Gardens.

“The ambulance service and Coastguard were also called.

“The man was removed from the water and taken to hospital by ambulance.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard added: “We were tasked alongside Newquay RNLI Lifeboats to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust & Devon & Cornwall Police with an incident at Tolcarne Beach.

“However shortly after arrival it was confirmed that the incident was at The Boating Lake and the team were redirected there.

“The team removed one casualty from the water and assisted the ambulance service already on scene until the arrival of the critical care team.

“The casualty was transported onwards to hospital for further treatment, we wish them a swift recovery.

“A team from Newquay Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service also attended and assisted with this incident.”
