Newquay Town Council is being recommended to spend £24,962 carrying out cliff stabilisation works on the Killacourt.

The authority, which manages the green space, plans to stabilise the cliffs behind Towan Promenade after a recent cliff stability assessment it commissioned concluded the risk rating of possible cliff and rock failure has been changed from medium to high requiring immediate attention.

The environment and facilities committee has recommended the full council to release the funding from the open spaces reserves at its meeting tonight (Wednesday, April 3).

The proposal is to use the deputy town clerk’s recommended contractor Vector Ropes.
