A Truro author has contributed to a Christmas treasury storybook which is racing up the Amazon charts.

Mother-of-three Faye Edwardes is one of 24 authors to feature in The Enchanted Christmas Treasury, aimed at readers aged five to eight. There is a charming story for each day of advent, with topics including ninja nans, brave pups and fallen angels finding their way back to the top of the Christmas tree.

Faye’s short story, The Singing Stag, is the tale of a young mute boy who uses a flute to communicate. In a bid to escape bullies, he flees into the forest and meets a singing stag. Their friendship teaches the young lad how to find his voice and stand up for himself, and for others.

Faye, 47, drew inspiration from her own love of singing, and that of her sons, who are choristers at Truro Cathedral. “It’s a story about finding your sense of belonging – and the stag is my spirit animal,” she says.

Psychologist Faye enjoyed success in the Amazon charts earlier this year with The Little Book Of Positivity, her own self-help book published in May. “This is my first foray into fiction – and I love it,” she beams.

All proceeds will help fund the work of SENStory CIC, a not-for-profit organisation helping children, young people and families with special educational needs across the UK navigate their journeys in nature through therapy, play, learning and training opportunities.  The collaborative book project has been curated by Abigail Horne, founder of Authors & Co.

“The Enchanted Christmas Treasury celebrates the spirit of inclusivity, diversity and kindness - themes that are especially important during the holiday season,” she says.

“Bringing together these 24 authors from all over the world, to create and write such beautiful stories, has been so special, and will have a lasting impact.”
