CHURCH bells will soon be pealing again in a Clay Country village.
An extensive renovation and repair project involving the eight bells at the parish church in St Dennis is nearing completion.
The scheme began last year after an enthusiastic and hardworking committee was formed to fundraise and plan the work which had a projected cost of £63,000.
Taylors Bell Foundry of Loughborough has worked on the project which has also involved volunteers. Organisers say the support of local people has been outstanding.
The large frame in the church tower has treated and restored as part of the scheme.
A celebration service for the blessing and rededication of the bells will be held on Sunday, July 14, at 9.30am with the Rt Rev Hugh Nelson, Bishop of St Germans.
New bellringers have begun their training with the help of Phil Tremaine at St Columb Major Church.
