“God omnipotent reigneth” by Charles Wood was the anthem for choral evensong at St Mary Magdalene Church, Launceston, and the words were paraphrased from Psalm 93.

Dr Sean Sweeney played “Légende” by Louis Vierne before the service and ended it with his “Carillon”.

James Wonnacott led the service and acted as cantor in the Preces and Responses by Sanders. Sharron Wormald read the lessons. The canticles were sung to Stanford in C in celebration of 100 years from his death this year. The choir also sang Psalm 81  to the chant by Battishill conducted by Dr Sweeney.

The next choral evensong will be on July 7 at 5.30pm.
