CHILDREN are jumping for joy after a Fraddon play park was given a £42,000 makeover.
The play area within the Fraddon Millennium Green has a new piece of equipment, the Tommy Tractor and trailer slide, in place of a wooden train that had to be removed.
The old safety surfacing removed, and 263 square metres of new safety surfacing has been installed.
The existing play equipment has also been given a new lick of painted thanks to the help of volunteers.
The play park received the funds through a Community Infrastructure Levy grant. St Enoder Parish Council provided additional support.
The equipment was supplied by local firm Outdoor Play People, based in St Mawgan.
Dick Cole, the secretary of the Fraddon Millennium Green Trust, said: “We are grateful for the support that we have received from Cornwall Council’s CIL team and St Enoder Parish Council.
“The improvements were much needed, and the play area is open once again and being enjoyed by local children and their families.
“Further tidy-up works around the Millennium Green are still planned, including the trimming of vegetation and removal of dead trees after they were affected by ash dieback.”
