Canadian video game outfit Behaviour Interactive is opening of a new studio in Truro.
Operating under the banner of Behaviour UK - South, the new studio’s initial team is composed primarily of former employees of AntiMatter Games, a local developer whose parent company recently announced its intention to close. Founded in 1992, Behaviour has its headquarters in Montreal. Its flagship franchise, the multiplayer survival horror game Dead by Daylight™, has entertained over 50 million players across multiple platforms.
Since April 2022, Behaviour has undertaken a major expansion program, establishing or acquiring studios in Toronto, Seattle and the UK, including the acquisition of SockMonkey Studios in Middlesbrough in February as Behaviour UK - North.
“Many truly talented individuals have been undeservedly impacted by the economic challenges that have led to layoffs across the gaming industry,” stated Wayne Meazza, executive vice-president of Behaviour’s Services division.
“When we learned AntiMatter Games was closing, we jumped at the opportunity to accelerate our strategic expansion by adding the studio’s proven, experienced team.”
“We are thrilled that we can continue to pursue our passion for making games as part of the Behaviour team,” said Rich Barham, AntiMatter Games’ former chief executive, now general manager of Behaviour UK - South.
“We feel very fortunate that we can maintain our home in Truro, and we look forward to welcoming new members to the team over the coming months and years.”
