IT’S beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Camborne, Redruth and Penzance as all three towns switched-on their Christmas lights at the weekend.

First to turn their lights on were Camborne on Friday, November 29. The community gathered at the town square to enjoy plenty of music and entertainment before extraordinary four-year-old Louis Hood did the honours of turning on the twinkling displays.

On Saturday, 10-year-old Harry Wade switched Penzance’s festive lights on in front of a large crowd at the Humphry Davy statue. The community sung Christmas carols before town crier Phil Northcott and mayor Stephen Reynolds led the crowd in counting down to the switch-on.

Redruth’s In Lights Festival also took place on Saturday with the annual lantern parade and Christmas lights switch-on taking centre stage. The day also saw the opening of the town’s Christmas Grotto and the traditional Redruth Wassail took place once the lights were illuminated around the town centre.
