THE town’s of Redruth and Camborne came together on Remembrance Sunday (November 10) to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Redruth’s Remembrance parade formed up on Sea View Terrace before heading along Albany Road and turning into Victoria Park where the two-minute silence was conducted, followed by organisations laying wreaths.

The parade then left Victoria Park and concluded at St Andrew's Church for a service followed by refreshments.

Taking part in the parade were Redruth Town Band, Illogan Sparnon Silver Band, 77 Squadron Air Cadets - Redruth, Redruth School Cadets and may youth groups that paraded alongside the town's veterans. Camborne and Redruth MP Perran Moon and mayor Stephen Barnes were also in attendance.

On the night before, a Festival of Remembrance took place at Redruth Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, featuring the Celtic Male Ensemble and Lowena Voices. All proceeds go to the Poppy Appeal.

In nearby Camborne on Sunday morning, the Remembrance Parade departed from Commercial Square, headed through Union and Cross Street, down to Tyacks roundabout and congregated outside St Martin & St Meriadoc Parish Church. The two-minute silence and the laying of wreaths followed the arrival.

Attending the Camborne parade included Camborne Town Band, Veterans and service personnel, 147 Camborne and District Squadron Air Cadets, Camborne Army Cadets, among many other organisations.

A Concert of Remembrance took place on Sunday evening at Camborne Wesley Methodist Church, where Lanner and District Silver Band and Holman-Climax Male Voice Choir were performing. All proceeds from the evening went towards the Poppy Appeal.
