THE grounds of Caerhays Castle are set to be transformed for a charity summer fete in support of Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The event on Sunday, June 16, will be open from 10am to 4pm and will span several areas of the Caerhays grounds, including Castle Lawn, Castle Courtyard and Castle Field.

Caerhays Estate marketing manager Lucinda Rimmington said: “Join us for this very popular family fun day. This biennial event attracts visitors from across the county and beyond: the Caerhays Summer Fete is set to be one of the most popular events of the summer in Cornwall.

“Heavy horses will be dressed up in their finest brass, Catseye Morris are back and will definitely get people dancing, and there will be a craft tent for those who want to mooch around and browse jewellery, glassware and other artistic wares.

“The kids will be delighted to see Squashbox Theatre. Have a go at archery, maybe even take part in the 5K run and loads more.

“Sunday, June 16, also happens to be Father’s Day, so what better way to celebrate than joining us at Caerhays Estate for a jam-packed summer fete in support of Children’s Hospice South West?

“Spread out a blanket, sit back and be entertained by our fabulous Cornish performers, eat incredible food, let the kids take part in the fantastic activities and enjoy being part of the Caerhays community on this very special day in our calendar.”

Judging for the dog show starts at 12.30pm with entries being £1 per class. There are different categories to pick from, including Best Rescue, Golden Oldie, Best Puppy, and King and Queen of the Castle.

Entertainment on Castle Lawn will include performances from Tregony Primary School Dancers, Squashbox Theatre and Mevagissey Male Choir.

Catseye Morris will be dressed in their signature black jeans with splashes of vibrant colour as they perform in the Castle Courtyard. And they will be followed the St Dennis Ukulele Band.

The 5km run will start in Castle Field and there is no additional cost to enter.
