BEACHGOERS taking an early morning stroll on Fistral Beach on Thursday (April 11) were greeted to a “sad sight” after discovering a dolphin had washed ashore.

The stranding, which is believed to be a bottlenose dolphin, was reported to the Cornwall Wildlife Trust who sent a vet out.

Jan Miles, who discovered the dolphin, said: “It was such a sad sight. We were walking the dog on the beach as we do most mornings when we saw this beautiful creature lying there.

“It looked so peaceful and uninjured as if it was asleep.”
