Firefighters appealed for help from motorists after a poorly-parked vehicle prevented a crew answering a 999 call to a fire in a home yesterday.
Two crews from Newquay were alerted to the emergency in the town's Robartes Road shortly after 6.30pm.
But one of the appliances was delayed getting to the scene because of the poorly-parked vehicle.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "When parking your vehicle, take a second to think, would an emergency vehicle get past in an emergency?"
Fire had broken out in the bedroom of the home. The fire was put out and a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to remove residual smoke from the building.
