A charity that supports bereaved parents is expanding its services further into Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Luna’s Fund is working with Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) to provide a lifeline to parents whose lives have been devastated by stillbirth or neonatal death.

Aimee and Ryan Conroy established the charity in memory of their daughter Luna, who was “born sleeping” in 2017. Having discovered a void in practical and emotional support, they launched Luna’s Fund in the Plymouth area the following year.

Services include dedicated support groups for parents and grandparents; weekly food shopping purchase and deliveries by a trustee for six weeks; getaway breaks to enable parents to reconnect in a safe space; redecoration of rooms prepared for nursery use; and private antenatal scans to compliment NHS scans in future pregnancies.

RCHT has a specialist team to support families who experience baby loss, as well as dedicated facilities at the hospital where parents can spend time with their babies.

Consultant midwife Sarah-Jane Pedler said: “The Luna’s Fund team are inspirational, highly organised, and full of passion, their support will be deeply valued by bereaved families and the bereavement team who care for them.”
