THE arts and music will be celebrated at a special weekend event being staged in Cubert.
St Cubert Music and Arts are holding a Celebration of the Sea weekend in Cubert Parish Church, which will feature an exhibition of paintings by a group of talented local artists, a summer concert and a pop-up craft shop from Thursday, July 18 to Sunday, July 21.
The concert, which will be held on the Saturday at 7pm, features harpist, Katie McClaughry and the Celtic Fiddlers playing traditional, evocative music conjuring the beauty and mystery of the sea.
A spokesperson for St Cubert Music and Arts said: “The paintings and artwork on display in the church are all personal responses to our inspiring coast and the emotions and feelings evoked through watching, walking, swimming and celebrating the presence of the Sea in our lives.
“One particular piece on show will be a large driftwood fishing boat, Wanderer, made by Pentire artist and exhibitor, Clare Willison. Clare is donating this piece to raise funds for the church, and anyone interested in making an offer can talk to us over the weekend.”
The painting exhibition will be open daily from 10am to 4pm. The concert is £10 on the door, card or cash.
