Police are hunting an armed robber who held up a Newquay bookmakers and made off with thousands of pounds on Sunday night

A man entered Betfred on East Street and threatened the man working behind the counter with a knife before leaving the premises with the “significant” amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6ft 2in tall, of slim build. He was dressed all in black with a black windbreaker with Nike in small letters on the chest. He also wore a blue face mask.

It is thought the suspect headed towards the town centre and he may have gone up Grosvenor Avenue.

Detectives would like to hear from anyone who may have information that would help the investigation.
