Apprentices at the Eden Project celebrated National Apprenticeship Week by meeting Robert Halfon MP, the Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education on his tour of the UK.
The minister learned about the varied employment and training opportunities available at Eden, and visited the new Growing Point nursery complex, where he was hosted by Eden’s chief people and culture officer Dawn George and training officer Greg Richards and saw first-hand the work being done by horticultural apprentices and the wider team.
Mr Halfon then sat down with a number of apprentices, and heard about their experiences as well as their achievements and hopes for the future.
The Eden Project is committed to developing young people and offers a wide range of apprenticeships, each providing an opportunity to work while studying for a nationally recognised qualification.
“It was wonderful to kick off National Apprenticeship Week with a visit to the incredible Eden Project to meet with talented apprentices working in horticulture, arboriculture and sustainability,” said Mr Halfon.
“Their passion for their fields and dedication to environmental initiatives left me inspired and optimistic about the future of our green industries.”
