POLICE are hoping to speak to the driver and passenger of a red vehicle in connection with a reported sexual assault in St Austell on January 13.

The team investigating have issued an appeal to find two potential witnesses who may have seen the incident.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Officers are trying to locate the driver and passenger of a red Vauxhall Corsa that was parked at the top of Alexandra Road between 3.30pm and 4pm on Saturday 13 January.

"It was reported that a woman aged in her 20s was touched inappropriately by a male suspect in the area during this time.

"A St Austell man aged in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

"Officers would like to trace the two occupants of the Corsa, who are possible witnesses and are not suspected of any offences."

Police are also keen to hear from any motorists that were traveling on Alexandra Road at the time who may have dashcam footage.
