AN annual Cornish music and dance festival returns to Redruth later this month.

Lowender Celtic Festival, which has been running for more than 40 years, is an opportunity for people to engage with Cornwall’s living traditions and learn about their Celtic connections.

Taking place between October 24 to 27, the packed programme will see concerts, displays, music, singing sessions, dancing, Cornish language lessons, talks, workshops and family activities take place.

The annual celebration aims to once again reinforce its core value of connecting communities and championing Cornwall’s living traditions on a national and international scale. Lowender is a word for celebration, mirth or festivity in the Cornish language.

Among the venues in the town holding events this month include Penventon Hotel, Redruth Wesley Church, Redruth School, Kresen Kernow, The Oxford Inn.

The event provides a platform to support emerging local talent and musicians and helps give visitors the opportunity to get stuck into an activity they perhaps had not done before.

Tickets are available now for members of the public who can choose which events they want to participate in, they can also purchase festival rover tickets which covers all festival events.
