THE annual St Austell mayor making ceremony has taken place, recognising Cllr Julian Young as the new mayor of the town.

The ceremony was held at Holy Trinity Church in the town centre.

The outgoing mayor, Cllr Crystal Pearce, handed over the mayoral chain and robes to Cllr Young.

A town council spokesperson said: “Entertainment for the occasion was provided by Kenny Barnes and Esther Baker, and the buffet was provided by Manor Made.

“Approximately 80 people came along to the ceremony, including mayors from around Cornwall.

“Cllr Young will be supported by the new deputy mayor, Cllr Colin Hamilton.”
