With a stirring rendition of God Save The King and Trelawny from St Stythian’s Band, the flag was raised on the Stithians Show, which runs throughout the day.
While the weather is indisputably a bit soggy at present, it looks set to clear up and there’s plenty going on here, from livestock judging (including pigs for the first time since 1880), to a scarecrow festival.
Prize-giving will take place in the main ring (weather permitting) from 2pm, with a Grand Cattle Parade taking place from 3.15pm.
