Police, the Coastguard and the RNLI were called in after concerns for the welfare of four people reportedly in the sea at Fistral Beach.
The alarm was raised on Sunday, September 8 at 4.45am.
The emergency services were alerted after a man in his twenties came out of the water and believed his friends were also in the sea. Further enquiries established that all were safe and accounted for in holiday accommodation.
A search of the water and beach was carried out to ensure no other persons were in the sea.
The call was classed as a false alarm with good intent.
Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924 was also tasked to assist but was unable due to the weather conditions.
