National Highways is advising drivers to plan their journeys ahead of a weekend closure of the A30 near Truro.

Drainage, central reservation installation, fencing and bridge work will be taking place under a weekend closure between Chiverton and Boxheater, from 8pm tomorrow to 6am on Monday as part of National Highways’ A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross road upgrade.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted via the A3075 to Goonhavern and the B3285 to rejoin the A30, with the westbound diversion operating in reverse.

On Monday, drivers will also experience a new layout at the Carland Cross roundabout, to allow for work to progress at the eastern end of the scheme.

Under the temporary Carland traffic alignment, traffic will navigate the new north roundabout to continue their A30 journeys or to follow the A39 Truro road.

Neil Winter, National Highways’ senior project manager for the A30 scheme, said: “It’s not a significant change, but we advise people to plan ahead and allow a little extra time for their journeys, and thank them in advance for their co-operation and patience.”

Drivers can obtain up-to-the-minute travel information on local radio, the @HighwaysSWEST Twitter feed, by phoning the National Highways Information Line on 0300 123 5000 or online at www.trafficengland.com

The new A30 dual carriageway is scheduled to be fully open to traffic in June. The project team will host two public engagement events on Lemon Quay in Truro next week - on Tuesday from 1pm to 7pm, and Wednesday from 8am to 2pm - to talk about the project and answer any questions.
