A drag superstar from Redruth is representing Cornwall in an iconic reality television series.
Aaron Johns, whose alter ego is Vicki Vivacious, is appearing in series five of RuPaul’s Drag Race, which started on BBC3 on Thursday.
Drag queens from across the nation face off on the runway and are judged by RuPaul and her panel consisting of Michelle Visage, Graham Norton and Alan Carr in a chic contest of style, skill and sequins in their search for "the United Kingdom's next drag superstar."
Vicki Vivcious is up against nine other hopeful queens, which include Banksie, Kate Butch, Cara Melle, DeDeLicious, Tomara Thomas, Michael Marouli, Ginger Johnson, Alexis Saint Pete and Miss Naomi Carter.
Aaron attended Redruth School and It was his love of cabaret and West End Shows from a young age that led him to want to perform on stage and later become a drag act.
Vicki now lives Hertfordshire to pursue her career in drag.
She trained at top London musical theatre school The Urdang Academy and has gone from strength to strength, joining drag supergroup The Supreme Fabulettes and touring with the likes of Little Mix, Dannii Minogue and dancing for Pink at Wembley stadium.
Vicki has also appeared in many TV commercials and featured on Britain’s Got Talent in 2013.
Now she’s meeting even more success with her sell-out casino show in London’s West end and touring the country with her one woman show.
Vicki often works between six and nine shows a week and for one of those gigs, she tours barracks, bringing her drag magic to entertain the armed forces.
Describing herself as a “glamourpuss with the mouth of Kerry Katona,” Vicki is the first Cornish queen to bring her pasty power onto Drag Race UK.
Vicki Vivacious recently headlined the Cornwall Pride event in Newquay.
