A man had died following a collision with a car in St Ives on Saturday.
The pedestrian, who was in his 70s, was walking on Tregenna Place at the junction with Gabriel Place when the incident happened at 8.55pm.
A 29-year-old woman from St Ives was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
She has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “The collision involved a motor car and a pedestrian, a local man aged in his 70s.
"Emergency services attended the scene and administered medical treatment; however, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“His family were subsequently informed.
“The car driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
"Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not yet made themselves known, to kindly contact them by phoning 101 and quoting log 773 30/12/23 or alternatively by using the Devon & Cornwall Police website. Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in this incident."
